Mayor Scott Matas

I was one of 17 Mayors able to meet and voice our concerns on the Governors housing plan. He was very receptive and I am very encouraged about how the state and local cities will be able to work together on housing compliance ... See MoreSee Less

Start by holding slumlords responsible with fines. Create a housing court where rent can be deposited in escrow until slumlords fix their properties. Multi-unit property owners should be required to encapsulate properties to address cockroaches which are epidemic throughout DHS.

Hell no! We already handle a vast majority of felons and child molesters. We need higher income earners to bring prosperty to our city, not more people on the Damn dole. I'm opposed!!

Since dhs has more than its fair share of affordable housing, I would bet that rancho Mirage would pay dhs very handsomely for all the state mandated housing the state requires them to provide. Since dhs houses the working class anyway, let's get paid for it. Just a thought. Let's stop giving it away for free. They should pay up or let the state fine them. Just a thought. How about dhs getting a percentage of RM, IW, PD sales tax revenue. Like how Trump got NATO to pay their fair share. Call it Bernie Sanders income equality if you wish.

Thanks, Mayor Matas for speaking on behalf of our city...and glad Newsom was receptive.

Proud of you and your representation of DHS. XOXO

Good job, Mayor!
