Something that really bothers me as the Mayor of the city of Desert Hot Springs is the perception of crime. It’s been reported by the Department of Justice that Desert Hot Springs has some of the lowest crime in all categories, and in some crimes, the lowest in the valley.
So what does this mean for our city? It means we need to continue spreading the word and telling people that this isn’t the 1990s anymore in Desert Hot Springs—the crime isn’t there. The crime is being fought as it should be, thanks to the good men and women of our police and code enforcement departments. We’ll continue to prioritize future budgets to ensure that crime stays low.
Now, we’re not blind to the fact that there is still crime. When you drive through the inner city, you might see some of it, and sometimes it does happen to you, which is unfortunate. But we’ll continue to work on ensuring that our police department listens to your needs and keeps our city safe.
