Hello Desert Hot Springs!

Lots to discuss with you in my April Update.

The Vietnam Moving Wall is making progress as we prepare for its return to Desert Hot Springs. If you’re interested in supporting, please contact me: http://scottmatas.com .

Speaking of Veterans, Veteran’s Park is getting changes just in time for the annual Memorial Day Ceremony 10am on Monday, May 29. This year we will have a flyover.

Desert Hot Springs Rotary brought us the “Big Heart Awards” last month honoring many heroes within our community. Thank you Rotary for all that you do.

The Rotary Park’s construction to be converted into a full dog park is almost complete!

I discuss how important it for you to report problems when you see them. This can drastically help us reduce vandalism and keep our parks in great shape.

The Desert Hot Springs Healthy Cities Initiatives is very busy! Chairwoman Jackie Chatman has organized a speaker series and also is working on a big community event! http://dhshealthycity.com

Our city hall is making progress. Within just a few weeks my office, the city manager’s and city council’s offices will be finished.

If you’d like to see the renderings come to our next Town Hall!

We do these town halls in place of a big “State of the City”, where you as the community can come for free to hear what the future of Desert Hot Springs and ask questions. My council and city staff, including Chief Dale Mondary and City Manager Chuck Maynard, join me. Our next one will be May 24th at the Miracle Springs Resort and Spa, sponsored by the Desert Hot Springs Rotary, and will be on Facebook live from my Facebook page.

We can do one at your HOA, faith-based organization or nonprofit.

See the schedule as it becomes available at townhall.scottmatas.com .

I discuss what the state gas tax increase means for Desert Hot Springs, as well as pedestrian safety.

We are working with the District Attorney’s office and PSUSD on a “youth court” – which will help kids who have received citations for the first time.

You can see all our events in town at dhsdaily.com, and submit your own! All be sure to follow my social media pages.

Don’t forget to check out dhsdaily.com and follow my social media to keep up all events in Desert Hot Springs… and submit your own!
