September City Update.

A lot going on in Desert Hot Springs!

We discuss Canndescent , the first medical marijuana cultivation facility in Southern California, which officially opened right here in town.

In partnership with BurkeMedia Productions, my office developed a digital community calendar – see all the events and activities happening in town – and easily submit your own.

October 1st is the Fall Festival at Mission Lakes Market Place with three live bands, petting zoo, free carnival rides, a beer garden, fireworks and much more.

October 26th is the Desert Hot Springs Business Summit. Learn more and sign up at http://cityofdhs.com

October 27th is the Desert Hot Springs Historical Society ‘s quarterly Soup Supper. Learn more at http://www.dhshistoricalsociety.com

October 30th the Desert Hot Springs Healthy City Initiatives in partnership with the Desert Hot Springs Rotary Club is bringing you a Healthy Halloween / Zombie Walk event… learn more and sign up for a booth at http://dhshealthycity.com

We are cleaning up the business district.

Taco Bell has bought property here in Desert Hot Springs.

We also get an update from Robin Goins, the Executive Director of Smooth Transition Inc, which has just had a soft open and is having a grand opening on October 14th.

Smooth Transition is a non-profit organization that helps individuals to succeed in getting their GED. They offer Adult Basic Education classes as well as GED classes. They also are a certified Pearson Vue Testing center. People can take their exams without having to travel out of town.

They have new opportunities growing here with Vocational Training at their site with exciting fields such as, Culinary Arts, Lighting and Sound Technology, live podcast from KDHS, from their Recording Studios, Hospitality Management, Agricultural Development, and Construction Management.

Remember my office hours are Tuesday from 10am to 2pm – come by and share your concerns!

We’re looking forward to seeing you get involved.

Stay connected!
